A family of white South Africans — who sought refugee protection in Canada, claiming fear of rape and violence against whites by the black majority in their homeland — have won the Federal Court’s support to continue their asylum claim. Read more

South African civil rights organisation AfriForum is entering a new phase by shifting its focus to the mobilising of its 100 000 members to strive for self-reliance, thus taking care of their own interests and the interests of their communities, in addition to the active protection of civil rights.  This announcement was made at the official opening of the new AfriForum Head Office in Centurion today. The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) is currently investigating complaints of racism submitted by the South African Hindu Maha Sabha in the wake of increasing consternation over AmaCde’s anti-Indian song Umhlab’ Uzobuya and a slew of racist Facebook comments by a man believed to be a Unisa student.   Read more
