Brazil, India and South Africa, which cumulatively represent more than 10% of global GDP (gross domestic product) and 20% of the world’s population, are expected to see GDP contractions of 7% on average in 2020.

Affluent G-20 countries have been able to implement strict lockdown measures and effective testing and tracing regimes, combined with higher levels of fiscal flexibility to support citizens as economies fell stagnant.

The three countries were identified as being at higher risk of corruption and potential civil unrest than many of their G-20 counterparts.
